Museum Arpad Line, Kolochava

Historical and Military Museum "Arpad line" in Kolochava gathered a unique collection of military equipment. It offers true face of the war bunkers. Visitors can not only see the equipment, but also to know the details of the history of the Second World War.

History museum

Arpad line Hungarians began to build in 1940 for protection against Soviet troops. Due to the natural topography of the Carpathians was an opportunity to build a strong military fortifications. With these fortifications artillery fire soldiers could stop the advance of the enemy. For this purpose built concrete bunkers. From shooting to hotspots bunkers were dug trench land. Dangerous places were equipped with automatic weapons, grenades, mortars and small cannon. Trenches were held telephone.

The length of the line Arpad Transcarpathia was about 600 km. In some places the river Tereblya series of concrete were built the pyramids, some of which have survived to this day. Many pyramids were collected and restorers restored for the museum.

But not fighting began as the Soviet Army learned of the line of defense and attack carried out in an unpredictable place. The Hungarians were forced to flee as a blown up bunkers.

The museum exposition «Arpad line»

Museum "Arpad line" gathered within its walls interesting exhibits. There is a military tool of Transcarpathia during the Second World War. Recovered bunkers now open to visitors of the museum. Saved foundation and walls of the ceiling, completely recreated the interior of four chambers:

• The first was a command. Here are samples of the original machine guns and automatic rifles, grenades, helmets, ammunition and distant vision device, flamethrower and more equipment.
• The second - a guard. On it was charged with sentinel points.
• The third was the hopper hospital. It was a high concentration of medication, special equipment sets, bromine and iodine. Prolonged it desirable, but to help in time enough.
• Under the ceiling you can see ancient wind instruments by which honored the memory of the dead.
• The fourth was the abode kashovariv, there was kotlobunker. Inside there is a long table with plates and spoons, copper cups. On both sides there are benches. Upon entering first note falls kitchen spurs, which are traditionally used by Hungarians.

Museum "Arpad line" has about 2,000 exhibits. Also restored was the longest in Europe, anti-tank defense line length of 100 meters, which was built from concrete pyramids.

Getting there

Museum "Arpad line" in Kolochava located on Friendship Street, which is located on the outskirts of the village in the direction of the city Hust right of the road. You can get here:

• Public transport. By train towards Uzhgorod get to the station Volovets , from the local bus to Kolochava.
• Own transport. Go to the village road M06 Lower Gate , which turn towards Volovets and move in the direction of Intermountain . This village is a pointer "Kolochava."
